Aqualand Algarve Water Park

A day at a water park is one for the entire family and the Aqualand water park is the perfect place for all ages.

Located in the central Algarve between Albufeira and Lagoa, Aqualand offers a variety of slides and features to keep you busy the entire day.  If you are looking for some adrenalin filled fun then take to the speedy slides, while if you would rather relax and bob about then there are more gentle rides designed to appeal to anyone wanting to cool down in the water on a sunny day.

Children who are still not ready for the slides can splash about in the especially dedicated fun zone and when you are ready for a break there are food and drinks available on site.

Aqualand is a family focused water park attraction open during the summer months in the Algarve.

Depending on where you are staying in the Algarve you will find that there is a water park only a short journey away and these are fantastic attractions that are suitable for every member of the family.

Aqualand is located in the central region of the Algarve, near to the small town of Alcantarilha between Lagoa and Albufeira. You can see the water park from the A22 motorway as you drive by but you need to access the park from the EN125 where you will find a large car park and additional parking for the busiest days.

The park has seen massive improvements recently with new slides and attractions being bought to Aqualand which means that it looks modern and bright as you arrive and if you are returning to the park after some years you will find that there have been many improvements.

Aqualand is open during from mid June through to the start of September, to fit in with the long school summer holidays and the overall feel of the place is that it has been designed to appeal to families with school aged children.

There are two distinct areas of Aqualand that are designed for young children who may not be able to swim yet or are not confident in the water. Both the Children’s Paradise area and the Rainbow Park offer a selection of slides, showers and fountains in shallow waters, while the mini slides offer something a little more exciting to slightly older children who are still nervous about attempting the full sized versions yet!

At Aqualand they realise that while lots of people are looking for adrenaline filled fun on the bigger slides, there are also plenty of visitors to the attraction who are looking for a more relaxed day and the Congo River experiences are ideal for those who just want to sit back and enjoy the cooling waters in the sunshine. On this attraction you sit on inflatables and are floated along the river, this makes it also great for younger guests who may want to move away from the kids zone into a more “grown up” area of the park without having to tackle the big ones!

If you are looking to raise the tempo then there is plenty on offer, including the aptly named Kamikaze and the new Hydra slide along with rapids and the Banzai slide.

There is food available to buy in the park but if you want to keep costs down or have specific dietary requirements then it is a good idea to take your own picnic which you can enjoy in one of the grassy areas of the park or by the beach attraction which includes a wave pool.

New Slides

Waterparks in the Algarve are designed to appeal to every member of the family and Aqualand is no different, however if you are looking for some adrenalin filled fun then why not try out the selection of super speedy slides at Aqualand!

The waterpark is located in the central Algarve between Albufeira and Portimão and has seen a number of improvements recently, including the newly opened Hydra slides, designed to get your heart racing and the adrenalin pumping.

The three new slides that make up the Hydra experience at Aqualand are located to the west of the park but are really easy to spot thanks to the striped design of the tube slides that snake their way down to the pool.

Pick from the red, green or the blue Hydra slide and loop around at high speed for a great experience you will be keen to repeat.

There are plenty of other slides to appeal to those looking for something a little extra and the crazy leap, with its plunge into a pool and the Kamikaze which takes you from 36 metres down to zero in only four seconds, have to be two of the best!

Try your hand at some body surfing on the crazy race where you can race friends while spinning and turning along the wide channels or feel the thrill of white water rafting on the rapids.

There are of course plenty of other more sedentary slides and rides at Aqualand for those who would rather bob along in the water or play in the children’s areas but it is good to know that fans of thrills and spills will have lots to enjoy at Aqualand waterpark in the Algarve!
