The sea has an uncountable number of wildlife, and the waters around the Algarve are no exception! The best way to see the sea wildlife is, well, to be on the sea!
A boat trip to see the wild life of the Algarve, especially dolphins, are always a good thing to do, specially in the summer, as is possible to see the dolphins almost every time!
The Dolphin and Sea Life Watching – High Speed RIB – Faro (2Hrs duration) is a good way to spend a little of your time enjoying the live wildlife while feeling the oceanic wind and the good weather of the Algarve! This guided trip will give you more knowledge regarding the local sea biodiversity.
This trip will start in calm waters and then go to the ocean, reaching 5 miles offshore. You will have the opportunity to go along the coastline, enjoy the beautiful views, pass by the barrier-islands of Ria Formosa and Santa Maria Cape. There is multiple possible species that can be seen, but the most common sighted are the Common Dolphin (Delphinus delphis) and the Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).
Seabirds are a constant presence and the most seen species are the Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus), Balearic Shearwater (Puffinus mauretanicus), Mediterranean Gull (Larus melanocephalus) and several species of Storm-petrels. Seagulls are of course also a common sighting specially when we pass by fishing boats.
There is also the possibility of observing other marine wildlife species such as sea turtles, the Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola), sharks and occasionally other cetaceans species such as the Harbour Porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) and the Minke Whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata).
Come and get to know the local wildlife better, here in the Algarve!
